Overview

The fourth edition of Summer of Innovation is a platform for honing one’s technical skills and promoting tech culture in our institute. Lasting 3 months, the event comprises of problem statements from multiple domains and the participants are allowed to take part in any number of them. The event is a result of the contribution of about every technical organization involved with tech in our institute. This year, the event shall last from 27th of May and will span majorly the months of June and July, allowing the participants to learn the required technical skills from scratch and then implementing them in this period.

Toolset Unbounded

The problem Statement involves developing a GUI frontend with a user-friendly UI/UX. It includes a secure signup/login page with password/OTP protection. Implement a lossless image and text compression/decompression algorithms. Compressed images are stored in a secure database, and a file management system allows users to add/delete their images. You are free to choose various components, and exploration is encouraged.

Alokin - Digital

You have to design a hardware module(i.e. come up with the code) using the programming language- Verilog/VHDL with its functionalities similar to those found in a Washing Machine Controller.

Alokin - Analog

You have to a)Find out some parameters of NMOS and PMOS, b)Design a fully functional Operational Amplifier, which should meet certain specs in Ngspice simulator.

AIWars: Conquer the Battlefield

The game of "Dots and Boxes" begins with an empty grid of dots. Players take turns adding a line of unit length between two unconnected dots. When a player completes the fourth side of a 1x1 box, they earn a point and get another turn. Your goal is to code a bot which performs good at the game.

Drone Dash

An autonomous drone obstacle race! Designed to be a fantastic and fun way to get into robotic algorithms. We've designed it such that you'll learn a lot about robotic operating systems (ROS), robotic perception (computer vision) and autonomous control, all of which are not just key skills for robotics but also the hype these days!

Route.AI

AI, ML being the most used buzz words these days, this intriguing problem statement which requires you to come up with machine learning algorithms to predict the bus location based on the past data of bus routes, will help you learn, delve deeper in this field and is an opportunity to hone your creativity and skill sets!

In the distant future, the state of the Earth is degrading. Equipped with advanced space travel, humans have decided to move Beyond the Horizon- searching for habitable exoplanets. You are tasked with finding which stars are worth exploring.

Cosmoscope - Seniors

The Sample Analysis at Mars (SAM) instrument is a key part of NASA’s Curiosity rover mission to explore the red planet. SAM’s main goal is to detect and analyze organic molecules that contain carbon, such as methane, which are essential for life as we know it. Your goal is to discover the existence of specific chemical component families in geological material samples using data from Mars exploration missions and constructing machine learning models.
